Situated in the heart of a thriving farming area, the Catholic parish of St Thomas of Villanova has been in the care of the priests of the Order of Saint Augustine since its inception in 1911.

From the time of Fathers Dempsey and Sugrue to the present Parish Priest, Father Michael Belonio, Mareeba has grown to become a parish of welcoming, hard-working people.

Many ethnic groups make up the members of the parish, where celebrations such as Italian Masses, the feast of Santo Nino and the Aboriginal Masses are a highlight of the parish year.

Many charitable groups operate within the parish, reaching out to people in need in all walks of life.

Dimbulah is served by the Augustinian priests since the departure of diocesan priests several years ago. The parish church is named St Anthony of Padua. The parishioners of Dimbulah have a deep and lasting devotion to St. Anthony.
